'Mid the hills and the trees and the grass,
as the sun settles low under whispers of rain,
meet the wind and the river and we.
Down mountains through forests and orchards,
the wind hints of soil and the blossoms on trees
and the snow on those near distant peaks.
In stillness, in its memory of snow,
the river bears salmon to the ocean and back
with the promise of life yet to grow.
Brushing moss from a rock, we sit here,
then we pass, leaving prints for the next of our kind
the wind and the river and we.
